Under A War-Torn Sky
Assignments

1. Henry Forester, Dan MacNamara, School Teacher, and Samuel Watson are really the main characters at this point in the story. Dan affects Henry because Henry looks up to Dan. He believes he should have the chance to survive to go back home to his wife and daughter, Colleen. Dan is on his twenty-first mission out of twenty-five. Henry on one of his missions, must jump out of an airplane with the rest of the pilots. He then lands and sprains his ankle. The School Teacher tries to help Henry healed from his ankle injury and sneak him out of Switzerland back to England. He shelters him in the old school house and a bird comes to him, which will bringing a sense of hope: being liberated under Hitler's rule. The teacher arranges to get help from the teacher's cousin, but unfortunately, the cousin doesn't want to get involved in the issue. Henry is left alone from the teacher. Henry is affected by Samuel Watson, or "Uncle Sam", because Sam wants to truly help him return to England. He lays out a plan for Henry to follow to gain safety. The minor characters consist of Billy White, who sort of hazes Henry through much of the first few chapters. A few other characters are Henry's mother, who makes delicious pies, and father, who which he resents and is why he enlisted in the war.

2. Henry's decisions contemplate needing another's help due to his ankle injury. He must gain help, which he did from Samuel and the school teacher. I sort of agree with Henry's actions, but still not totally. He is inaccessible to reach far with the ankle. Henry doesn't have much choice to go along with what he can.

3. This story has no doubt changed my thinking and appreciation towards our veterans and soldiers fighting so we can live better. Under A War-Torn Sky is definately an inspirational and heroic story of how Henry copes through life.

Some good insights, Andrew. You've made some good points about how the major characters interact with one another. More information as to how the MINOR characters affect the actions of the major characters would help in order to understand the story line.

It's great that you have a deeper appreciation for our veterans. We are fortunate to have such dedicated men and women.
